Do you know that shoes can block your healing? This was a brand new question for me, so read carefully! You’ll be SURPRISED. It seems science has given us another reason to walk barefoot!  How refreshing and promising.

Wearing shoes can sabotage your health according to Dr. James Oschman. He is an expert in the Field of Energy medicine, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biophysics and a PhD in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Oschman is now able to provide the scientific groundwork for understanding what actually occurs. In fact, his team has now published about a dozen papers on this topic. Healing from the earth is something we are missing out on living rubber shoes and high rise homes.

As an author of a number of books, he is widely recognized as an authority in the biophysics of energy medicine. In this interview he discusses the practice of “earthing,” or grounding.

What is Earthing?

Earthing is simply walking barefoot, grounding your body to Earth.

Your skin in general is a very good conductor. You can connect any part of your skin to the Earth, but if you compare various parts there is one that is especially potent, and that’s right in the middle of the ball of your foot; a point known to acupuncturists as Kidney 1 (K1). K1 conductivity connects to all of the acupuncture meridians and essentially connects to every nook and cranny of your body. Ideal locations for earthing are on the beach, close to or in the water, and on dewy grass. Lack of grounding has a lot to do with the rise of modern diseases.

When walking on the earth barefoot, free electrons from the earth transfer into your body via the soles of your feet. These free electrons are some of the most potent Antioxidants known to man!

Wearing shoes soles that are made of rubber or plastic may have contributed to the rise of modern diseases by allowing chronic inflammation to proliferate unchecked.

Experiments have shown that free electrons from the earth cause beneficial changes in heart rate, decreases inflammation, reduces pain, promotes healthy sleep, and thins your blood, making it less viscous, which has beneficial impact on cardiovascular disease.

We get so much good from the earth. We can grow healthy food in our gardens. We can grow our own local fruits in our yard or orchards. Now that we are living in high rise buildings, making parking garages from parks, it is clearer than ever that we need to get back down to earth for our health and be close to it.

    I knew there must be a good reason that I seem to require going barefoot at all times around the house and yard, as well as on our walks in the woods and in the streams! Thanks
